The Damascus International Jazz Quintet (DIJQ) is a multi-national group especially created on the occasion of the 4th edition of Jazz Lives in Syria Festival from the initiative of five top-notch international musicians who have regularly participated (concerts and workshops) to the festival since its creation. The DIJQ will perform, with two talented Syrian oriental musicians in addition to various special guests, original compositions by the group members as well as arrangements of pieces from the jazz repertoire and world music traditions. Incorporating jazz, world music and classical influences, DIJQ creates a modern fusion of these diverse sources of inspiration.
